If everything is turned off in the camper... There shouldn't be any draw. Thus no arc.

If your batteries are low the converter will start up right away, thus causing an arc.

But the trailer has been hooked up to my truck for how many hours?

Anywho. Just a difference of opinion.
Breakers are not designed to be used as a switch, unless marked for switch duty.

It is not likely that everything is off or can be turned off. Do you also switch the water heater off behind the cover? The converter? do you turn if off??? or trip its breaker?? If you don't then something is always on on the 110V side when you plug into the pedestal.

"This is all correct and I did this too. Now that I have installed a Progressive power management system I don't need to, the progressive does it for me. It waits 10 seconds or so to apply power to the trailer after the plug is put in. No arcs."
Progressive recommends the post be off before plugging in the EMS unit, then energize the post, give it the two minute check period, before plugging in the RV.

Truck is 12 volts.... land line is 120 volts. Charge rate from tv isn't much. It's a whole lot less trouble to turn off pedistal breaker...after all, you've got the lid open. If it's a hard wired unit you need to plug in, turn on breaker, before the EMS can do it's thing
