Smile Batteries not charging

I replaced my 6v batteries and now the batteries will not charge when generator is running or when plugged into house. I have cleaned and checked all connections, fuses and breakers. I have been researching and I keep hearing this may be a convertor issue. All 12v lighting works and also 110v works when generator is running. Issue is the batteries will not charge. I have an 06 sandpiper sport. Any help?

Did you put the new batteries in reverse polarity? If you have 12 volt in the trailer and the battery is not charging and dead then your converter is working (supplying 12 volt to the trailer).

or you tripped the resettable breaker/fuse, when you replaced the batteries.
it would help if you posted what type of RV you have.

The cables are correct. I run two 6v and checked and cleaned connections. I checked connections under trailer and have the same voltage on them as the batteries have. 13.78v. My trailer is a 2006 sandpiper sport 29'by forest river.

Did some more troubleshooting. The batteries are charging but the 12v system lights, water pump, etc are running off of the batteries. it does sound like the convertor is clicking on. before this issue if the lights were on battery power only, and then i would kick on the generator then the lights became brighter. this does not happen anymore. I will keep updating as i go along.

There is usually a fuse between the charger and the batteries. It is possible that this blew during tht battery change. It is usually located in the convertor .

Your batteries more than likely had a low charge before, so the lights would go brighter when the generator was running (converter was operating then, thus brighter lights).
Now that your batteries have charged up from running your generator, the lights will be the same brightness with or without the generator running.

Thanks for all the help given. Ended up it was the convertor after all and a bad breaker. But found all the hidden resettable fuses. Upgraded the convertor and now all connections have been cleaned and straightened out. Thanks again.

The resettable fuse in mine is located on the inner frame rail just past the batteries.
