Just got done discussing this in another thread. I pulled the battery out of my Columbus and it had black and white wires instead of black and red wires.
The black and white is from trailer wiring. Black in positive 12vdc and white is negative 12vdc. From a small slide in truck camper to a large 5th wheel, they are all considers trailerable RV. Soooooo, hence the trailer wiring color codes.
Bargman 7 or 5 pin trailer connector plug was my clue.

joelek, Can you tell me were the running lights hook into that pin? I asked my dealer and he said the break lite. But if my running lite blows a fuse in the truck my break lights still work.?... with his answer to me:!!!
Think of the 3/4 and 1 ton pickup trucks that have the orange running lights above the windshield. When you turn on the headlights, the tail lights and running lights come on.
Brake lights don't come on when you turn on headlights - should be just the tail lights in rear of truck.

National Fire Protection Association writes the National Electrical Code which states that the grounded conductor in any circuit is white or grey, or indicated with markings using these colors. This is for AC and DC wiring.
Grounding conductors (earth connected for safety/protection from shocks) are green or bare.
Current carrying conductors can be any other colors, except white grey or green.
The Society of Automotive Engineers developed their own standards of Red being positive, and Black being negative, and have lived in their own world for a long time.
Lately the world has been adopting the NEC version of color coding, and end users are caught in between. I do all my DC wiring to the NEC, but the only sure way to tell is to meter the leads, or visually trace the wires to their ends to identify them.
