Battery boxes faded...

The black plastic battery boxes fade to grey in the sun over time, has anyone found something to extend or give them back their 'blackness' ?

Wax, ArmorAll ?

I've actually thought about painting mine white.
Heat is the enemy of many things including batteries.
Sitting out there in the sun baking day after day isn't a great thing.

Krylon sells paint called Fusion that sticks to plastic well.
You can re-paint them shiny black if you want but my advice is
to go with gray, white or some light color that complements your
trailer.
It's available at WallyWorld and other big box dept stores.

Happy Camping!

battery boxes dont keep their color for long and you can say more on the strap that is holding them. The strap get very brittle over the time. I put some vinyl dressing once and a while but these boxes are not U.V protected at all.

Mother's Back to Black. Works great on her Jeep plastic. Has to be done every 3 months or so.

Try using 303 Aerospace Protectant. I use on several of my "plastic" items I use outdoors all the time. It seams to work for protecting plastics from the suns rays.

strap

303 works great for UV protection my Kayaks are 5 years old and look like new. They are outside all summer . I wipe them down twice a year.I hate my silly battery box strap ,Reminds me of an old fashion lawn chair webbing, and it is difficult to unbuckle .
ANY thoughts on a user friendly replacement.

Ten dollar ratchet strap. Cut off the extra length not needed

I like the idea -- Harbor freight is down the road a bit , $2.99 for two.
Thanks for the tip
