Mine were the same way. Go buy some red and black electrical tape. Wrap the first few inches of battery cable red for positive, black for negative. This will stop you or anyone else from putting them on backwards.

The tape is good idea but I prefer to use shrink wrap. I slip it on and before heating to shrink it i make sure it's covering the terminal up to it's contact point with the battery terminal. This keeps any liquids from attacking the junction. Tape would do the same but the shrink wrap is thicker and more durable.

RVs are not automobiles and use standard residential DC wire colors. White is Ground. Just trace the wire from the frame if in doubt. There is commonly a sticker with this information on the A-frame by the battery.

I replaced my ceiling lights. They had a White (ground) and Black (positive) wires. The new lights were Red (positive) and Black (ground) wires. So I had to splice White to Black and Black to Red.

Great lights by the way.

I'd second the above comment re having a generator available, as it appears Aaron is located where freezup is a concern (his comments re heat tape) Even a small 1000 watt size is better than nothing as it will keep batteries charged during power outage. Better yet is a 2000 watt range as you can run an electric heater as well as the battery charger, lights etc.

Check voltage and current output to your converter. Reversed wires is detrimental to your converter. It should also prevent your fridge from lighting on gas if the wores are truly crossed.

Crossed battery cables

As a suggestion I would mark the positive cables in a way that you will know in the future. I marked mine with red tape.

Just a suggestion. I put red tape on the positive cable so that I would remember in the future. Red is what I am used to for the battery positive cable.
