Battery Disconnect questions

I have a battery disconnect question I was hoping someone could help me with.

I have 2 12v deep cycle batteries run in parallel. Connected they work as one battery and charge and drain as one battery (if I understand right). They are connected positive to positive and negative to negative.

My question is wiring for a battery disconnect.

Questions:
Do I get a 2 battery disconnect or is 1 sufficient?

Scenario
Having 2 batteries if I get a battery disconnect for 1 battery and wire it to one of my batteries(neutral) and leave the other battery hooked up to the one with the disconnect + to + and - to - will it disconnect both when the disconnect is set to off?

I have a battery disconnect that has 4 positions.

1) both batteries off
2) battery 1 on battery 2 off
3) battery 2 on battery 1 off
4 battery 1 and 2 on

I like it if I need to have one on reserve.

I have a single disconnect wired between the battery+ and the + coming from the trailer. It shuts off both batteries. You can get a dual battery disconnect that will shut off 1st battery or 2nd battery or both. I didn't feel I needed that.
Just as a note... Your connecting wire between the two batteries seems way "undersized" to me. I would want it at least as big as the one from the trailer. JMHO

I have a single disconnect on my two 12v deep cycle batteries (in parallel) and it works fine.

I do admit that I really like F1100turbo setup. When I added the second battery I decided to just go with what I already had. 99% of my camping willl be with full hookups.

Originally I had a single shut off for two batteries but I changed that and I now have mine the same way Turbo has his setup

I have the + side disconnected and the - side stays connected to the battery.

I think your trailer most likely has 8 Guage wire now (Mine had 8 Gauge)- you can look on the jacket of the wire to verify

I ran 6 Gauge wire from battery to Battery negative side (black)
and 6 Gauge from Battery to Disconnect - one + to side 1 of switch and other battery to + side of side 2 of switch and the trailer connected to common.

If you run a single disconnect run 1 size bigger (lower number) wire from negative to negative
and same for positive to positive with negative side one battery one and the postive hooked up to battery number 2 so when you charge it gives less resistance.

Here is the thread I made for my dual battery disconnect

I just noticed I wired the camper on one battery and jumped the 2nd battery.

I will have to re-wire my ground so it is on the 2nd battery. I remember Herk making reference to that in a diffrent thread and thought I wired it that way - apparently not

I like the idea of Turbo posted about the disconnect with four positions.

I agree on the size of wire to the 2nd battery could be bigger. I will be making that mod as well.

If you all would share your disconnect make and models that would be great.

I presently am running Blue Seas P/N 6007200

I had a single (Red Color) battery disconnect Blue Seas model 6006 for my dual battery setup so decided to upgrade the battery switch to a Dual Battery (Black) switch -

I bought a Blue Seas P/N 6007200 Black Dual Battery switch,
it allows me to turn off both batteries, select 1st or 2nd or both batteries.

if you check the Blue Seas website you can see the diffrent models
they come in black or red

I had red the first time but went with black the second time so it was more concealed and less noticable.
it also had a cap that you can remove to prevent someone from turning the power on and leaving it when the trailer is in storage.
