Battery Disconnect Switch Issues

Hello. We have a 2007 Sunseeker LTD2860 and have lights and fridge while on shoreline or generator, but nothing when on 12 volt. I have changed the converter and tested the batteries. The batteries are both registering over 12 on the meter. There is still no power on 12 volt. The disconnect switch makes no sound when I switch it between on and off. Anyone else ever experience this? Is it likely the disconnect solenoid or some relay? If so does anyone know what part numbers for replacing these as they cannot be read from my existing parts. We are up in Canada and Forest River units seem to cause the Canadian parts people a lot of challenges.

Do lights work on 12 volt? Water pump work on 12 volt? Reefer work on 12 volt propane? Only 12 volt items work on 12 volt. Anything that's 120 volt requires gen. or shore power to work. If this is not what you mean, then sorry I'm at a loss.

Just a disconnect switch, on off.

As soon as I disconnect from shoreline or shut off generator, all power is gone. No fridge, not lights, no water pump or hot water heater. The disconnect switch for the battery is in the battery on position (and I have switched it on and off several times).

That sounds like a bad disconnect switch. If you can pull it out or get behind it , then you can check with a volt meter. See if power is hitting in and out. If in and nothing out, bad switch. If in and out, then an open wire some place.

Is there an inline fuse anywhere with the Sunseekers?

Check the Reverse Polarity fuses in your Converter, they could be blown.

On some models, there can be a thermal circuit breaker, which needs to be reset. That device will likely be tucked in the frame, towards where the battery is mounted. Follow the positive lead starting at the battery. There is a little plastic button, operative word little, that will pop out of the side of the thermal breaker if it has tripped open. Press in to reset.

Do validate that your battery is properly connected first.

I don't believe we have them on a MH SunSeeker. Not that I ever found.

Thanks. I will crawl under it this weekend. The polarity of the battery hook up is good and the converter fuses are good. I even tried a new converter at first thinking this was the culprit. Do you happen to have a picture of this thermal breaker or a link I can use to look at what I'm looking for? Finding any information or anyone knowledgeable on Forest River up here in Canada is impossible.

Only fuses are on the converter or where circuit breakers and fuses are. There are two 40 amp fuses. It sounds like your converter is working since you have 12 volts on shore/gen. power.

I don't know how yours is, but on mine there is an access panel next to the step with connections there. Mine comes off the bats. to there then back to the panel where all the fuses are. I have a 3100SS. Hope this helps.

This is also where my access panel is. There is some kind of black relay that is to the left of the disconnect solenoid and has a tiny black button in the center of it. I have tried to push this in but there is little resistance to it and it doesn't stay in. Is this possibly a faulty relay?

You can check it with a volt meter. If you don't have one get one. I know this might sound stupid, but check your bat ground connection. Corosion there could cause an open circuit.

I have never messed with that relay. I know about that area there because my hyd. leveled were connected there and the wire dropped from the frame and ground it self to nothing on the drive shaft. That area to check is under the steps toward the rear of th vehicle under that access panel.
