I suspect wiring the steps DIRECT TO BATTERY is a dealer trick to allow the coach to sit on a lot with BCC Off yet keep the steps running for sales prospects. I'm wiring everything to the BCC (The 30A and the 12A). OFF should be "OFF"... The Steps work with or without the green wire touching the negative pole so I'll relocate that ground wire to frame.
ur probably right. that may have contributed to a premature battery failure as well. (and a lot of frustration tracing it down). glad the problem is solved.

Yes they are great dual purpose, yet I have a battery up front for starting.. I'm going TEST dry camp tomorrow (Water Heater/pump, and the exhaust fan set to a comfortable 73deg), and see how long it takes that batts to read 50%.

I would love to know. My fully charged 2 battery 150 AH bank was run down to 50% in a week of sitting in the dealer's lot while they worked on it with everything off but the propane detector, if that helps.
