Battery ground location upgrade

Just a heads up to all of you perfectionists out there that you might want to check the battery ground cable on your trailers. Mine was grounded using one of the bolts in one of the cable clamps on the frame allowing current only to flow through the bolt and making contact through the threads. I personally prefer the flat of the ring terminal be in contact with bare metal on the frame, so I mounted it in a new location on the angle iron that the batteries sit on and bolted it down. I removed a small amount of paint from this location to allow full contact of the ring terminal to the bare metal. I know that the slide motor pulls considerable current, and I wanted a good ground to avoid any issues.

Is this area exposed to outside atmosphere? If so, I might suggest a bit of silicone sealant or something over the bare metal to ensure it wont rust. Just a thought.

It is exposed. I've done lots of 12V installations of audio systems, but none of those ever required exposed ground locations. Maybe a coating of dielectric grease would be a good idea?

It would be best to help keep it rust free and maintain a good connection.
