Battery Hookup

Is the negative on the battery hooked to the ground on the camper?

the Negative is the Ground side and it is usually hooked to the frame.

What make and model trailer or is a Motor Home?

Can I ask what you are trying to do so as to give you better info and possibly help for a solution

2011 Forest River Flagstaff Fifth Wheel... refrigerator wouldn't work and stereo would not power on and the 40 amp fuses were blown.

Also when removing the fuse for the stereo and replacing it there was a very strong arch.

if you are getting an Arch - that would tell me that there is a + (hot) and - (ground) touching somewhere together.

Did you do any re-wire recently or working with the wire?

did you buy the trailer new or used?

was the trailer in storage and was working or was it bought this way or need more info

I would start by tracing out the wire from the battery to the back of the trailer and see if one of the sheathing chafed off and is touching the frame - I would suspect it is after the fuse though.

Hooking the battery up reversed will cause all the issues you are reporting. I am sorry to report that you likely have caused a lot of damage.

I suspect the power converter needs the two 40 amps fuses replaced at a minimum.

I also worry about the fridge main board (hope the fuses caught it); the Stereo (most likely fried); the Propane Detector (most likely fried); the furnace main board (hope the fuses caught it in time); and Power converter if the fuses did not blow in time to protect it.

The red wires go to the positive terminal on the battery and the black/white wires go to the frame (ground).
