Got home yesterday and noticed considerable amount of battery acid had leaked beneath battery box and stained driveway. I have never known a battery to freeze and I am from Minnesota. The temp has dropped and this sort of coincided with first good freeze here. It is a 2010 TT and don't know if this is a normal leak from deep cycle bat. or is it possible it froze.
I do have it plugged up in driveway but only thing we use is lights while parked there. Any thoughts?
how cold did it get?
is the top of the bat wet like it may have boiled over?
is the kind of bat that u can pull the caps and see if any of the cells are showing plates?
are the sides of the battery bulging?
haven't had experience with one leaking or freezing. with my questions, i'm looking more at a battery over charging. you may have already ruled this line out.
A dead battery will freeze. Is it possible that the battery did not charge properly even though your camper is plugged up ?? That and overcharging with the battery boiling seem like the 2 most likely scenarios.

I guess it got down to about 28 night before last.
The sides are not bulging and the battery is closed maintenance free.
I can check charge on it this afternoon.
Still have question as to how I would check whether it is overcharging?
