Battery not charging

Drove all the way from Fort Worth, TX to Billings, MT in the last 2 days. No issues with trailer at all. Except the rv battery is not charging while driving. So when we get to the campsite the battery is dead and frig is off.

Pulled into the rv park last night and when I hit the brakes it said "check trailer wiring" and I had no trailer brakes. Messed with it this morning and when I disconnected the ground wire on the kingpin it warning went away and brakes worked. Hooked the ground back up and warning came back. Doesn't matter if I am plugged into the bed or the bumper.

So two issues 1. Battery not charging and 2. Trailer brake warning.

Any thoughts???
On my phone since the WIFI is horrible. Not sure if signature will show up.

This all may be tied into that separate ground killing the battery and not allowing the charge to happen. With the ground disconnected and truck hooked up (no shore power) test the voltage at the batteries and see if they are charging >13+ that will eliminate one problem and work from there. I did not know the kingpin had to be grounded thought that did that thru the frame.

Old thread but wanted to update

I just realized that I never updated this. We went the hole trip fighting this thing. By the time we would get to our next stop after driving 8-10 hours the battery was dead. Come to find out I have no 12V power to my plug in the back of the truck. I have not tore into it just yet but I do have power to the bumper.

I ran the plug over the tailgate and plugged it in on the last leg home and batter was fully charged when we arrived.

I hooked up the plug in the bed myself. I used a wiring harness from etrailer.com that was a simple plug and play system. So I don't know just yet what is going on.
