Battery Question

We are looking at buying a 2014 Palomino Solaire Eclipse. What is the best type/size battery to have the dealer install? It's part of the package and don't want them to try and put on one that won't cut the mustard.

Best deep cycle (type) with the most amp hour capacity that will fit the storage box. Your looking at size, bigger is better, so group 24 is the smallest you should consider, but group 27 is better, and of course bigger and more expensive. So, look for them to try a group 24 on you. Stay away from the six volt idea, for one BIG reason, if one __its the bed, your out of juice.

Do you plan on doing any dry camping or boondocking?

If so, have them install two matching 12v deep cycle or two 6v golf cart batteries.

If you will always have hookups, then a single true deep cycle 12v battery will be enough.

I would go for (2) group 27 12volts vs the (2) 6volts regardless of whether you boondock or have full hook ups. As stated, if 1 of the 6 volts shoots craps, you are SOL, not so if 1 of the 12volts shoots craps.

Thanks. I figure they will try and put the least expensive (for Them) I'll be talking to them tomorrow to clear this up.

Tell them you would like Trojan battery(s).
The two 6v vs two 12v theory doesn't really hold true. If one the the 12v takes a dump it will draw down the other 12v with it then you will also be SOL.
