Battery required?

We placed our Sierra 28 on a camping site that we are going to stay at for a while. The RV will not be towed nor used without city power.

Are the batteries required to stay in place? Any harm in disconnecting them or removing them completely?

Depends on the converter that you have. Some can handle not having a battery in the circuit, some can't. Look up the info on your converter and see what it says.

If you do leave a battery hooked up, make sure you check the voltage and battery water frequently or you may need a new one after a few months, as it may lose water with the constant float voltage and dry up and be ruined.

Would like to add if you get a VRLA sealed deep cell battery you will not have to keep check on the water. The vent valves are designed to reclaim the evaporated water from charging.

X4 The battery serves as a energy bank for larger loads, hydraulic pump or slide operation without overloading the converter.
