Ratings from Honda and Champion websites.

Honda (Canada) Specs: Honda 2000 - 53 db @ 7 meters (23 feet)
Champion (Home Page) Specs: Champion 2000 - 53 db @ 23 feet (7 meters)

I don't know, but the above ratings kinda look the same to me.
Agreed

I cannot speak for Honda's warranty but I know for lots of pricey dive gear I have had friend's (not code for me! LOL) who bought things on line or at shops that are not authorized and as soon as they had an issue they were denied coverage because they were not authorized distributors. I could see Honda being the same.

I started with the one Honda EU2000 companion then added a second standard eu2000 a few years later for the A/C. I have seen lots of good things about the champions. Ray, from lover your RV on youtube did a good review on a champion 2000 he uses.

For me the Champion was out, it was Honda or Yamaha. I did the the Honda over the Yamaha because there is a Honda repair center and distributor a few miles from my home. Yamaha was sold through the local cabelas and the closes repair center was 200 miles away.

Champion seemed like a good price but what I found was that if there was a problem it needed to be shipped back... Not good for a 50lb geni or when you are on the road. My Honda starts every time even after sitting with fuel for 6 months in it.. I do not try to do this but I sometimes and not that good with this in the winter.

OT: But I can attest to the Motor Snorkel kits. I installed one on my home backup geni three years ago and it is GREAT. They also have AWESOME customer service.

I got the champion from Costco, any issues 5 years from now, I drop it off at Costco and get my money back. The unit has been great though.

I was choosing between the Honda and Yamaha as well and went with the Yamaha because of the fuel shut off but not much else is different. I'm really happy with it but I found out it's really sensitive to the oil level, it likes to be topped right up to the threads on the cap.

Do you think that will run an A/C on its own?

Kenny,
Just be sure to try one before you buy, if planning to run your A/C.
I personally know two fellows who bought planning to use with their 13.5k units and it would not start either.
Not knocking Yamaha, just passing along the info.

Yup.
Found a pair of trojan 185 yesterday. Cheap.

The magnum can select say, 20a to pull from genny, any extra needed will come from batteries.

My 2000W Yammi will start and run my 13.5K. But I don't try to do it. I found out accidentally. The thermostat was on from last trip when I plug in to genni. But nothing else was running.

I can start mine as well with a 2000watt. It had to be the only thing running. After the hard start capacitor install it started much easier but I also would not press my luck and do it all the time.

You just missed out, before up until Jan 1 they (eu2000i) were everywhere for $899. I was really tempted but didn't pull the trigger. Honda also had 0% financing for 18 months. I know the price drop is gone now, couldn't quite discern if the financing is too or not. When the money's free it gives you a little time to pay with no worries.

I am looking for one too, for me Honda is the only way to go. The Yamaha's do look nice, but there's 2 Honda dealers nearby. Cabelas is close and sells the Yamaha, but as I've found with other things, service after the sale, not so much.

I did actually find a guy on Craigslist that has a new one for $775. I just need to convince myself that I have $775 of need for a generator (talk about cold feet!).

You can always sell it again on Craigslist if the "boss" is unhappy with it!
