Unhappy Blown 300amp fuse

I have a 2006 Dynamax Dynaquest 34' with Zantrax 1000w inverter. One night
while camping lost shore power woke up with inverter alarming low voltage.
At that time I checked the shore power was restored. Did not have a Surge Protector in line at this time. What apparently happened is there is a 300 amp
Fuse between the inverter and battery bank of 3-100 amp hour batteries that had blown therefore the inverter could not charge the batteries and of course no inverted DC to AC power.
Any ideas what could cause that Fuse to blow. 300 amp Fuse WOW.
Took it to Mechanic...Inverter is good and the batteries are good.He says very rarely he has seen this Happen.
Have surge protector now hopefully won't let this happen.
Thanks

Surge protector won't help that...Funny the the inverter was complaining that it had low voltage...it shouldn't have had any voltage! Are you sure you have a Xantrex 1000 watt inverter, or an inverter/charger of some sort.

Have the Zantrax HFS Freedom 1055. Agree the surge protector will not stop the inverter
to battery Fuse from blowing. Bought this Coach used. The manufactor recommends a
150 amp fuse so I am wondering why a 300 amp fuse there.
As long as I was plugged into shorepower the remote indicator pad on the inside of Coach would read FLT as if the batteries were receiving a float charge.
Only when I unplugged the shore power would the inverter would within 2 minutes
Shutdown. So I thought it was batteries problem, but tested them and they were good.
Never in my mind thought to check that fuse.
Well the fuse was blown and can't figure what would take the fuse out.
Of course the inverter was saying low voltage only without shorepower. But Batteries were good just could not get battery voltage thru blown.
Just wish I could see maybe blown fuse indication might save me some time checking
Things.
Why that fuse blew, never used the inverter side. Just maybe it was blown when I bought
the coach just never realized since engine alternator was charging the batteries not the inverter.
