Brand Newbie...Awning/Slide Out Not Working

Hello! We JUST bought our Forest River Travel Trailer and even when hooked up to our residence power the awning and the slideout won't work. My husband says the battery is fully charged (overnight) and we checked all of the fuses and everything is fine. The microwave is working so I think that confirms the residence power is being pumped in.

We can't figure out what's going on?? Any ideas?

Do you have a remote with your trailer? Try the slide and the awning with both the inside switch and the remote. There should be a fuse located on the frame just behind the battery on the tongue. Many trailers have a fuse there for the slide out. It's very common to blow that fuse.

He just replaced that fuse and has a checker to confirm it works

And we don't have a remote with ours.

My Windjammer has a switch near the propane bottles that,,,,,when shut off,,,nothing works in the DC circuits.....it's to prevent battery drain.....find out if you have one of these switches and make sure that it's not open.

Dumb question, but did you check to make sure the battery isolator switch isn't off in the battery compartment? Not sure if he checked fuses by looking, checking continuity or a test light, thus the question. Also, I'm not familiar with TT, but I had a similar issue first time out with our MH and found it was just the interlock with the ignition (I had the engine running). Is there some sort of interlock to keep the slide and awning from being extended while the TT is being towed?

Blown fuse?

Our 38 foot Salem Hemisphere 300BH has three slide out and a very large awning. We couldn't open the awning once too and found that there are outside fuses as well, where the awning folds down on itself, (in the hinge) and underneath the coach alongside the rails the slides ride on that could be blown.

That's what it was in our case.

Good luck

it would help if you posted year/make/model of RV you're talking about.

have you checked if there's a battery disconnect switch?

Still would be helpful to know what they have for instance a Puma does not have a battery disconnect switch while some models do.

Exactly, models vary greatly in what they come with.
Some have battery disconnects, some don't.
Also, if the OP posted what they have, those that own that particular model, could be way more helpful.

Agreed: the more info one can provide for a particular issue the better the help will be. You can never provide to much info. Later RJD

FWIW, the awning and outside lights on my 2015 Silverback won't work unless the interior ceiling lights are on. Give it a whirl, what the heck.( I think some bozo crosswired something during assembly.) I need to get some warranty service and get it straightened out.
