Breaker Panel ?

I was looking at the panel today and noticed I have a 15amp breaker that has Gen written beside it. Does this mean it is for a generator or what? I don't have a generator so what else could it be?

I have a 2004 Sierra 5th Wheel with 30amp service just to cover what I have.

Darn I was hoping to get some kind of response about this. Because if it is not being used I could use it for some other circuit.

Might be specific to Sierra.

If that breaker is to feed (or be fed from) an on board generator (and you do not have that option) there won't be a wire connected to it. I would remove the cover and look.

If there is a wire, a trace would be in order to see where it goes. Is there a "home" for a generator in the Sierra? There might be a switch over relay setup in there that uses that breaker.

Well I looked and there are 2 black wires going to it. How would you do a trace to see where they go? I am new to all this.

But no gennie .
I'm guessing it's labeled on all of them that way.

Can anyone tell me how to trace these wires as I have turned off the breaker but can't figure out what they go to?

You could try this.

Turn off ALL circuit breakers EXCEPT the generator one.

Use Amazon.com: Greenlee GT-16 Adjustable Non-Contact Voltage Detector: Home Improvement to find the wire path and where it goes.

If you have a Harbor Freight store nearby they have a couple of circuit tracers

That Cable Tracker is the way to go. It puts a high frequency signal on the wire and then probe for the signal. Il allows you to follow the routing of a wire through the walls. Given the convoluted way some RVs are wired, this can be a very handy tool. It will work with 120 v circuits or 12 v circuits. By putting the signal on the shield, you can also use it on the coax in your tv inputs.
