Breaker Tripped

When inspecting the Main Electrical panel in my 2007 SportCoach I found a tandem breaker with one circuit tripped, I reset and it tripped immediately. The circuit is labeled Bedroom/Din so I shut it off got my electric meter and checked the outlet in the Bedroom and all of the other outlets in the coach including the GFI circuits, All of them are working correctly. Thinking that the breaker must have failed I replaced and when reseting had the same results, tripped instantly. ANY IDEAS what to do next?

WHAT did you replace? the single 'tandem' breaker that was tripped? or BOTH of the tandem breakers?

Tandem breakers are usually used to provide separate breakers, but within a very confined or tight breaker box space. It's really just two separate breakers, just smaller version - one has nothing to do with the other, they both have their own breakers handles.

is the label 'Bedroom/Din(ing room)' over 'both' of the breakers, or just one?

it sounds as if the 'tripped' breaker has a problem of it's own, nothing to do with the 'twin' breaker next to it, they are separate and do not interact with each other.

I think you have either something on the tripped circuit that is causing the breaker to overload/heat and trip... OR, the back of the breaker has a wire that is touching metal, or not screwed in tightly and has moved away from it's connection....

does the Microwave work? it is also plugged into an outlet that could be on this circuit, usually located in the cabinet next to it or above it.

just a thought.

I'd have to think you haven't located the correct circuit that is inoperative and making the breaker trip.

You said one side of the breaker was tripped and when you reset it, it tripped immediately.
You then replaced the breaker with the same results.

If the breaker was tripped and wouldn't reset, there is no way you would have had power to the circuits you checked with your meter. I suspect you have something mislabeled.

That is possible.

I'm also wondering if the breaker goes to something besides the outlets in the bedroom/din. I wouldn't think so, but maybe there is something else 120 volt AC in them.......maybe some kind of light. Dunno

Breaker Tripped

Thanks so much for everyone that replied to my post. As a couple of you had posted the first problem is that the panel was miss-labeled. I had been working on this for a couple of days and I had tried all of the 110 outlets that I could think of. Today I took a look at the refrigerator and noticed that it was running on Propane, I normally set for Auto so when the circuit failed it switched over. I then opened the external access to the unit, unplugged the two cables and could then reset the breaker. I took a look in the freezer compartment and noticed that the lever was down for the icemaker that does not work and expected that was the problem, looking at the two cords one was marked as Icemaker, I plugged the other cable into the outlet, the refrigerator switched over to AC and all is working, except the Icemaker that I plan to leave unplugged. Thanks again...

Thanks for posting back your successful outcome.

I'm curious as to the make/model of your refrigerator?
I've not seen one with a separate 120v cord just for the ice maker.

Like 5picker said, thanks for the feedback. Too many times, people fix the problem and we never hear what fixed it.

Thanks!
The manual shows it does indeed have a black power cord for the refrigerator and a white power cord for the ice maker. I learned something today.
