Bulb Replacement = YIKES!

A bulb in one of the recessed lights on the ceiling of the slideout in our Silverback fifth wheel burned out during our last outing. It was a strange looking little bulb with two bare wire pins for the contacts. I was surprised that the local RV dealer had them in stock. My plan was to buy 4 of the bulbs until….yikes, the little buggers were $7.49 a pair.

Go to Lowes and get landscape bulbs, much cheaper.

After only a year the bulb went out in our fridge. Went to CW and the replacement was almost 12$ for 1 bulb but they were sold in 2 packs of 24$! We decided it was not that dark in the fridge!

G4 Bulb Replacement

I'm in the process of replacing all my 20W G4 pin halogen bulbs with LED bulbs from Hero-ledstore.com. The LED's come in 1.2 or 2 Watts which is a huge cut in the battery drain when dry camping. I had originally balked at the price of replacing 20 bulbs, but found this provider through a google search.

Think W/M has best prices for 20 watt halogen in bulb section.

Well now I don't feel so bad paying $7.49 for two bulbs. Walmart wanted $4.74 for just one 10w, 12 volt bulb.

I get a kick out of people will pay 50 grand for an RV and then whine about having to pay 5 bucks for a light bulb. That $5 bulb is .01% of the price of your $50K RV.

We joke around about this on motorcycle forums that I am on. Spend 20-30K on a fancy motorcycle and then try and save 3 bucks via buying a cheaper oil filter at Walmart. Am I guilty - absolutely!

Ya know, everythings a dolla! when a bulb like this overheats, it'll cost alot more to fix it. This stuff is reverse engineered, can only hope they got it right!
