Can't turn off awning lights

I have a problem. We just returned from a camping trip. I inadvertently turned on the awning lights with the remote and then left the remote on the back bumper and it got rained on. Now the remote will not work, and I cannot turn off the awning lights. My understanding is if they are turned on by the remote they can only be turned off by the remote. I tried pulling out every fuse in the fuse panel and none turned off the awning lights. How can I get them off? I have a new remote on order, but not sure when I will get it, and I do not want to leave the lights on that long.

Thanks,
Mike

you don't say what type of rv or remote you have. i am going to assume it is a lippert that allows you to control the light, awnings, and slides. at least that is what we have. the fuses for these deices are not in you fuse panel. they are in the base staion / receive for the remote. on our cardinal this receiver is up iin the battery bay up on th eceiling. of course yours may be different. the fuse for the lights was a 5 amp fuse. find the receiver and pull the fuse.

again what i am describing is for our unit and the lippert remote. yours may be differnet.

You might try putting the wet remote in a zip lock bag of rice and leave it there for a few days. The rice will soak up the moisture and the remote may be resurrected.

You would then have a spare. If not, all it cost you was a cup or two of rice.

Our travel trailer is a 2018 Forest River Salem Hemisphere Lite model 282RK. I was able to get the remote to power on by removing and reinserting the batteries. But the buttons don't seem to function. So I suspect the water is in the membrane switches. I don't know where the receiver is, I will try to locate it. We are going on another trip soon and we have the fridge running, so i do not want to disconnect the batteries.

If you can, flush the remote with Methyl or Ethyl alcohol.

It will combine with the water/moisture and then evaporate to a dry condition.

Better if you can open the remote case in order to do this, but it can work if you can get any into it at all, try through the battery compartment.

The biggest problem is that the battery in the remote + the Tin in the solder + water as the electrolyte will "grow" tin dendrites on the circuit board that are conductive and grow "shorts" that keep the circuit from operating correctly.

If you can get to the circuit board, brush it with the alcohol in order to remove the dendrites, both sides.

I have saved several marine radios and cell phones this way.

We have a forest River Heritage Glen 282RK 2019. The control panel for our remote was in the bottom section of the bathroom closet behind an access panel and then wires. Yours may be in the same place.
