I also ordered a pair of red led 1157 replacement dual intensity "bulbs".
Here is a link--
2pcs 1157 BAY15D 18 SMD Red CANBUS OBC No Error Signal P21/5W Car 18 LED Light Bulb 12V-in Light Source from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com
These will cost me $6 for the pair. Note- the "no error" means they have
a resistor built in. These LEDs use so much less power than traditional
tail light bulbs that some vehicles will show a false burned out message
on the dashboard. The resistor is supposed to prevent that false error.
In my case, I'm going to try them in my trailer tail lights. I've no idea
if they will appear any brighter than the normal bulbs back there but I'm
going to give them a shot.
OTOH, I might try one in my motorcycle tail light too. IF they are brighter
I'll use them, if not.... it was a $6 experiment and I learned something!
I've looked at LED replacement tail light assemblies for my trailer but most
are made for flush mount and that means you have to cut a large
hole in the trailer skin to install them. I'm not going to do that yet!
They (new tail light assemblies) are a lot brighter than my current tail lights tho..... IF you are interested in the assemblies, WallyWorld has them in the
automotive isle. They come packaged with a tiny disposable battery in the package. You can press the "test" button and actually see them lit up right
in the store. They are BRIGHT! If they had a surface mount version, I'd
have grabbed them the other day when I was looking!
