Coach Battery Solenoid chattering.

I have a 2002 31' Class C rig with E-450 Ford Chassis, and a Onan 4.0 Gen.
My problem is when I run the Generator the coach battery solenoid is chattering, it only does this on the gen, not when the engine is running or when on shore power. I put a voltage meter on the energizing lead to the solenoid and the voltage is fluctuating from 0v to 11.8v when the gen is running. It doesn't fluctuate with the engine or shore power.
I don't know where the 12v signal is coming from to drive the solenoid, but I'm thinking it's coming from the converter or from a voltage reg connon to the 12v circuit on the coach.

Can anyone advise on this?
Thanks
