Coach Step (electric stair) working backwards...

I'm looking for some suggestions on what could be causing this problem. When the RV is running, the steps are suppose to retract with the door closed, when the RV is not running, the steps should extend when the door is open and stay extended until you turn the ignition key on again.
Ours used to do this, then it started doing the opposite. Key on -door closed- steps out...

We replaced the sensor...still did it....
We replaced the control box...still did it...
Does anybody know what else could cause this? It seems like something is loose, but I don't know what to check.

Do you have an off/on switch for your steps?

On mine, if you turn the step switch to off and open and close the door, they stay extended while parked. That way when you're exiting, you don't have to wait for the steps to come out.

Hi! Thanks for the response...we finally solved our problem...Our door magnetic switch was bad (you could squeeze it and the steps would go in when they were suppose to) so my husband went down to our local Camping World and bought a magnetic switch. We installed and steps worked but backwards...they went in when they should be out and vice versa...
so we thought it must be the control box...ordered that and installed...same exact problem...
through more reading and a phone call to Coach RV Steps (now Stromberg Carlson Products Inc.) I verified that the switch works opposite all other RV switches for Coach Steps...Camper World doesn't stock their switch he told me for several years now...
so I ordered the magnetic door switch from them and installed it...Now everything works perfect!!!
Mystery solved!! YAY!!
