I have rock wood 2304S and wondered if anyone knows the maximum amp output of the converter? Curious how long I typically need to run gender to recharge a battery at 1/3 capacity.

Also it'll greatly depend on usage in between charges.
that appears to be the one. 55 amps is a lot but I'm sure it tapers off quickly? So any idea how long I should run gen to fully charge a typical deep cycle battery? roughly?

When we boondock I normally run ours for 3 hours.
Right or wrong it works for me.
I also have 2 batteries.
A 3 stage converter can take up to 3 days on campground/generator power to recharge a depleted deep discharge battery.
The reason is as the stages step down charge rate to prevent boiling of the battery, the amperage available drops into the milli-amp range.
Here is a graph showing why that happens.
In "BULK" stage 1 - a depleted battery has plenty of surface available to take electrons and can absorb them at a high rate (upwards of 20 amps at 14.4 volts). If the charger maintained this high rate, the available surface area would clog up as it takes time and power for those electrons to be pushed deeper in the thick lead plate of a deep discharge battery. BULK can only be maintained to about 50% capacity (about 4 hours of charging) or the excess amperage would be converted to heat and the water/electrolyte would be boiled from the battery. As the "surface" voltage increases, the converter detects this and steps the charge rate down to "ABSORPTION" Stage 2.
In Stage 2 (ABSORBTION), the voltage drops to about 13.6 volts and amperage drops to about 2 amps. This is the NORMAL mode of your converter. It will charge the remaining 50% and run all your 12 volt DC camper items. It can take upwards of 24 hours to charge the battery to 90% of capacity depending on how much other demand is on the converter (furnace etc).
If the RV is in an essentially "No Load" condition and the battery is above 90% of rated capacity, the converter will switch to stage 3 or "FLOAT" mode. In FLOAT, the output voltage drops to 13.2 voltage and will trickle charge (about 500 milliamps to the battery plus camper parasite draw) to replace the remaining 10% of capacity. Any demand on the RV will automatically switch the converter back to stage 3 and the voltage will ramp back up to 13.6 volts.
To return a 12 volt deeply discharged battery to 100% can take 3-5 days on external power depending on RV DC usage at the time.
Discharging a deep discharge battery below 50% will result permanent damage to the plates and permanently reduce the maximum capacity of the battery.
Recharging when the battery drops to about 80% capacity. (The "GOOD" light just goes out is 50%!), will result in the best battery life of these expensive batteries.

The new converters have a bulk charge button in the fuse panel location. If you have your book it explains it there. You can manually put it in bulk charge mode.

That is true with a progressive convertor but I did not know that WFCO added a charge wizard? When did they start doing that?

I don't know if wfco have them. Mine is a 2013 and not sure which I have. Was just saying to look in book and see. Mine is a vengeance with a 90 amp 3 stage. Don't have the TH or book handy.
And arent progressive "charge wizzard" units considered 4 stage technically....since in addition to the reg 3 stages they enter a "4" where they desulphate the plates?..
Anyway...I never seen or heard of a wfco with an override button like the progressive...

You are correct, they go into that mode every 21 hrs. for 15 minutes when in float at 13.2 V. You can also put it in any mode 14.4, 13.6 or 13.2. Once in float it will recognize parasites and not stay at 13.6 like WFCO it will drop to 13.2. trickle charge......

Don't mean to jump thread but are these good convertors with good charging abilities. New to this to and remember seeing about charge wizard in book. But haven't reviewed or followed up on these.

IMO It is the best convertor on the market. For 2 years my 12v monitor never dropped to 13.2 it always stayed at 13.6 in storage, and boiling my batteries. After the 2nd one started to give me trouble I bought the Progressive 4600/55 amp it a direct replacement. After it went through it's cycle I dropped to 13.2 . Besides the charge wizard it also has 2 cooling fans instead of one and the heat dissipator is about 1/3 bigger. I had to take my cover off to see if the fans were running, you can not hear them at all like the WFCO. Right now with the Refer, CO, Radio with 2 lights on it is reading 13.17. Before with nothing but Radio and CO which are my parasites I would be at 13.65 absorption mode. ......
