Does anyone know how to disable the charger section of a WFCO 8955 converter?

I am not sure you can just turn off the charger but if your just trying not to charge the batteries:
I am no expert but there should be a fuse from converter/charger to batteries. It won’t turn off the converter but it would stop the batteries from charging. Fuse should be in the panel with the others
Or, I am sure, I read that the camper does not need batteries to run the 12V if your hooked in to shore power 120V so you could disconnect the negative side of the battery.

I want to turn off the charger section of the converter because it is very inefficient. I want to install a dedicated charger instead.

I will be looking to do the same thing when I pick up the new RV on Friday. I have a PD9260 that I'm going to install, and I want to disable the converter that is built into the Power Panel.

I went to the WFCO Site, and was unable to get any information on how the Power Panel supplies the power to the Converter. I'll have to reverse engineer it when I get it in hand. It shouldn't be too difficult, as they offer replacement Converter Sections, and they would have to be wired into the panel.

If I find out, I'll post here.

One of the 120V breakers in the electrical panel disabled the charger on my unit.

When you do this "disconnect" charger you also disconnect the converter.
You'll be runninng 12v items strickly off of batteries 24/7 therefore you'll need to be charging battery all the time.

Do yourself a favor and buy a progressive dynamics brand converter/ charger which is highly efficient .

If you still wish to do this take out the distribution panel and unplugg the converter/charger.

Really imo what you think will be more efficient will turn into a not to efficient time waster.
