converter/charger questions
Hi There, I have a 2010 Forest River Surveyor Model SP275. I keep the Travel Trailer plugged in at all times when not in use. We typically camp about 18-25 night per year, mostly with hookups. Last weekend I went to check my batteries and found that one battery had both caps blown off and a crack in the top of the housing. The other battery was fine and the fluid level was fine.
I intend to replace both batteries. According to the manufacturers manual, "if the battery is below full charge, the converter charger will begin operation at a rate that reflects the level of discharge. When the battery is again fully charged, the converter charger drops its charging back to a maintenance level to keep the battery fully charged."
I have searched for the converter. It appears the converter/charger built into the electrical panel, is it? I have searched everywhere.
When I turn off the breaker and toggle back on, A fan type sound is heard in the same area. The breaker is under the kitchen seat area and there is a built in plastic box enclosing the back side.
Would it be best to upgrade to a three stage unit?
Would it be better to turn off the circuit breaker and use a BatteryMINDer Model 2012 to maintain batteries between trips?
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks in advance
