Converter fire destroys 5er (Article)

"the fire crew told her the fire most likely started in the trailer’s converter box."

Flames engulf fifth-wheel camper | Los Banos | Merced Sun-Star

I feel very badly for the owner. Looks like the owner did a good job keeping it from being a worse situation by getting the LP tanks away.

Not to second guess the fire department, but how could it be the converter if they were driving down the road as the photos clearly show.

My money is on the fridge being on and the fire starting there.
That looks like what is left of the fridge hanging out of the side.

I think I would have told the FD the propane was "OFF" too...

Maybe they meant inverter?
And that's possible!

The Inverter should have been close to the batteries (in the front storage compartment if the Wildcat is configured like my Flagstaff).

Could have been the DC distribution, that would have been right by the converter and usually near the fridge. Similar point of origin.

"Electrical problem" covers it and allows these lucky people to get their insurance settled quick. They did really well getting it all disconnected and the bottles out, I don't know if I would have been so quick to do that, got too much self preservation I guess.
