Converter questions

I have been experiencing my batteries not holding a charge. I have a 2006 FR Georgetown 340 with the original WFCO 8865 converter. I upgraded to the Progressive Dynamics 9270 and the install seemed to go well. I connected the positive and negative wires and plugged it. My question is do I need to do anything else with this unit? How will I know if it is working any better?

The batteries the previous owner installed are sealed and I do not think I can add water. There is a plastic cover the could pop off but there is a Sulfuric Acid symbol on top and didn't think I should try it.

How can I tell if the batteries are damaged and need replaced?

Thanks in advance.

The plastic cover / warning is typical of batteries. You need to pop those off and inspect the water levels. Add only distilled. I'm guessing those batteries are in bad shape.
