Correct Battery Wiring on HW277

Took my HW277 pop up out this past weekend for the second time since getting her new in the fall. No problems then, but my memory of setting up the battery was gone. I knew the 2 red wires, one with the resettable fuse went to the positive, but was unsure about the white and the black. I tried the white on the positive and Blackmon neg, but that wouldn't operate the power winch. So I switched it and the winch worked. I then hooked up,to a,land line and finished prepping for the trip. When I get to the campground and hooked up the battery, there was NO power to any 12v appliances or lights, I also noticed the GFI was tripped and would not reset. Every camper nearby came to assist, yet none could figure it out. Sadly we packed up and left for home not wanting to deal with an unpowered trailer for 4 days. When home, I again hooked up the battery as it is the only way to work the Power Winch (annoying). The winch worked fine and raised the roof. I did a little research on line, and reset the GFI. I read that the battery wires should go 2 reds and black to positive and white to negative. All came on and the camper was fixed. Lesson learned. Now I go out to close down the trailer and no power to winch with that wiring set up. So I put the black on the negative and left the white off and the winch worked. I am so confused as to how to wire this battery and not have problems like this. My last pop up was so easy. 2 wires, no,power winch. Anyone with insight please respond!

mine is both the black and white are on the negative, the reds are on the positive. I took a picture w/ my cell phone so I could refer to it anytime I have the battery undone.

Why are you disconnecting the battery when towing? The battery provides the power to the brakes in the event of the trailer comes off the hitch when towing.

I just went out and looked, one red and black wire comes from the lift motor, the red goes to the positive and the black is negative. There is a second set (a white wire and a red wire) they are for the rest of the camper, the red is pos and the white is neg.

you probably tripped the resettable circuit breaker, tucked in along the A-frame of the trailer, when you hooked up the wires wrong.

should look something like this:

press the tiny black button to restore 12v power to the trailer, past the jack which is usually wired directly to the battery.

Thank you to everyone for responding so quickly and with great information. I now have a clear understanding of the wiring and pictures have been snapped on my phone. My only concern now is that my resettable fuse has no reset button and it is on the end of the terminal cable.
Mine reset without any button. I figured it was when the GFI was reset back home. I also am wondering if the GFI switch can only be reset when plugged in to AC?
