In case of hydraulic slides this may not be accurate. Lippert fuses the motor to 120 amps! Way over the converter rating of max 55 amps. A few operations w/o a battery you may be shopping for a new converter.

They are fusing two to three times running amps to cove a surge. Remember fuses blow instantly at their rating. They don't ever expect the pump motor to draw that kind of load. That motor probably draws about 30 to 35 amps under normal load.

If I use the factory battery disconnect on our new Lacrosse the slides will not operate with the trailer plugged in. I would guess that on ours anyway they do not want the slides operating with out a battery pressent. Everything else in the trailer works, 12V and. 120V with battery disconnected.

Have not seen any hydraulic units fused to 120 amps. My Sierra with 4 hydraulic slides and landing gear, came from factory with auto resetting breaker of 20amps. Wasn't quite enough to run without tripping 3-4 times, so replaced with a 40amp and never had trouble again.

Iggy has published a 12 VDC diagram for a Georgetown. Mine was the same, some had 120 amp circuit breakers others 100 amp breakers. The heavier the coach, the more power (amps) required to lift and level.
Inadvertently doubling the ampacity of any circuit is root cause for a fire and not covered by an insurance policy.

Does anyone know if it's safe to charge the RV battery with a portable charger without damaging any of the RV circuitry if the disconnect switch is off? I guess I'm asking, does the disconnects switch on my rockwood TT completely isolate the battery so an external charger could be used instead of the onboard converter/ charger? thanks in advance.

For quicker charge and de-sulfating the battery. But I'd probably take it off for de-sulfating.

Check Tractors Supply for a gen. They run some great deals from time to time. I've bought three Champions from them ranging from 2,000 watts to 4,600 watts. Paid $325 for the 4,600.

Can't speak for all RVs but my Toy Hauler and my camping partners RV both charge with solar while the rig is in full use without disconnecting anything, Before solar, when we had generators running and wanted to accelerate charging, we plugged in an external charger and slapped it on the batteries even while the converter we charging at its menial slow rate. Seemed to help speed up charge and did not seem to have hurt anything.
