I use it as my camp - shore power all of the time. If I am unhooked to the battery or the battery is low, I do have some voltage, but very very low. Just enough to make the CD alarm blow. (Unless I do that trick with the light switch and breaker, but even that doesn't seem to be working anymore.) I have been under the RV from battery and the shore power, and I have not found any breaks or bad wire connections. I have not check from behind the converter and there is a place under the RV near the holding tanks that I can't get to.

It sounds like the convertor is out to me being your not even hearing the fan, I'LL send you my old one Monday 55 amp. Easy to replace wire to wire only. I would also change the 12 volt board to you just never know. What is your voltage at the battery on shore power? You be reading at least 13.6. You should also be reading that at the wires on the converter going to the battery. If your reading it at the convertor and not at the battery I would say it was a fuse if not then I would say it's the convertor.

OK, I'm new to the multimeter, but I had the same voltage from each red wire to the white wire up top and then unhooked the red wire on the bottom (battery wire?) and the white wire on the top right and check the voltage on the remaining red wire in the middle and white wire on the top and still got the same voltage. Also is the same voltage at the battery and where the battery goes into the panel. Sorry this is not more technical, but I don't know squat about electricity. Thanks for your help.

Like I said, I really don't know what I'm doing with the meter. It would help it were a digital meter, but I think it was between 12.8 and 13.0. Does that sound right? I don't think was 13.6 as indicated above. I'm not positive, though. Appreciate your help.

Yes Herk That is important to know what he is reading. Like I said I will give him my old one but not sure if that's the problem.

If the battery was fully charged, 12.8 is not unreasonable for a good battery and a failed converter.

When the battery is hooked up and the camper is plugged into shore power, can you have someone take a photo of your meter while you are measuring the test points?

(The heavy wire screw attachment points in the photo)

Great idea, I wish I had thought about it earlier. Unfortunately I'm no long near my RV. I'm couldn't see the reading well, but I'm pretty sure it was under 13. gljurczyk is sending me his old WFCO, so I'm hopeful that works. I'll let you know if that was the problem. It is still crazy to me that it I could get it to work sometimes by resetting the breaker and turning a light on, then loose power when I turned off the light switch. Electricity is a tricky thing, isn't it? Thanks.

I don't have any electrical issues, but I regularly read posts to learn things in case I have future issues. I just gotta say Lou (Herk) posts useful guides and is helpful to people who don't know what they are doing! I for one am very glad you are on this site!
