Electrical issue......I think?

I just brought my new 2012 Salem 30kqbss home today. Went through the demo at the dealership and everything worked perfectly. I took the camper to our storage yard in order to laod everything from our old camper into the new one. I plugged in our generator in order to have heat since its a bit cold outside today. Now the slide, electric awning, and electric jacks will not work. So i unhooked the genny . I tried the breakers, all ok. I looked at fuses, all ok. I called the dealership and the sales rep said it could be the in-line fuse behind the battery, Impossible! The 12volt lights are all working without issue. Any ideas on what this could be????Thanks!!

YES It could be an inline fuse behind battery . There could be more than one positive cable coming from the the positive side battery . Mine has more than one.
there is or should be a resettable circuit breaker behind battery or close to it .

just curious did you check the circuit breaker on your gennie ?

Yeah, genny was working fine, but dealer says slide should operate on battery power. I checked and I only have one positive line running from battery. I couldn't find any resetable breaker near battery. Behind battery under frame is a junction box with a lot of wires tied together with wire nuts but no fuse that I can see anywhere.

should be a resettable breaker. it has a button on the side of it, to reset it.
mine is along the tongue, between the battery and the front of the trailer.

Ok found 30 amp breakers under front end but they were not tripped. I have tried almos everything to no avail. All appliances, lights, and furnace work, just not the awning, jacks, or slide. I'm starting to get concerned about my purchase!!!
Update: I'm now plugged in to 30 amp service and no changes!

Did you check power on both sides of circuit breakers to see if ones bad?

My brother in law the electrician is coming over today to check it out. It's probably gonna cost me some beer and a dinner, but hopefully it's worth it. I don't wanna tow it back to dealer and take a day off work

Have your wife tow it to the dealer for you. Mine tows our trailer. The first time she did it I told her she couldn't learn to do it any younger. She did great.

Doubt you have to be concerned with your purchase cause it was working before you hooked up the generator

What plug did you plug your camper into on the generator - hopefully not the 220 side

Hopefully it is something simple and most likely is something simple since you knew it was working prior to hooking up the generator.

Did you turn the breaker off and then turn it back on - I have seen breakers pop but still look like they are on and the only way to reset them was to turn them off and then pop back on.

When I hook up my generator - I shut the main breaker off in my load center since my generator does not have a breaker or switch to turn the power on or off.

Back to the dealer it is. 30 amp breakers in front have power but it goes away somewhere underneath the trailer. Checked power going into jack motors and no dice. Same with the switch controlling the slide.

do you get power directly at the load center which is where your power is distributed to each device?

The generator has a 30 amp plug (it's made for rv's). I flipped all breakers of and back on. Everything works except the 3 systems that I talked about. We checked every breaker and fuse and everything had juice. Gotta be a loose connection somewhere.

Voltmeter showed 110. Would all other 12volt systems (lights, radio) still work if it was fried?

maybe pull the cover off of the load Center and verify power outputs at that location if you havent already done that

I think if the Converter was fried nothing would work.

I thought nothing was working which is why I made that statement . sounds like a connection problem now and possibly within or close to the converter .

Probably a connection as stated. Every slide I have seen does not go thru the distribution center but rather directly off the battery and thru it's own circuit breaker. I suspect the other two loads you mention share this circuit with the slide and you have a problem isolated to this circuit.

Isuue is resolved!!! Apparently the 3 systems I was having issue with are all on the same 20 amp inline fuse that is located behind a panel under the fridge. After calling the dealer this am they told me where to locate it and sure enough it was blown. I replaced the fuse and we are back in business!!! Thanks to all who offered suggestions and help. Now if anyone has any feedback on speeding up mother nature and getting spring here sooner, I would appreciate it!!! Happy Camping to all!!!

awesome and glad to hear you got it resolved.
May want to put that in a note book somewhere so if it ever happens again you can refer back to it and remember what it controlled as well
