ems-hw30c

Just purchased first Travel Trailer (05 Forest River Surveyor S223T). Dealer recommended an ems-hw30c, I just didn't want to pay $200 for them to install figured it was easy.

My main 30amp power plugs in on Back Side of Trailer. the only wiring I can find is behind the fuse panel/under sink. Coming up from the floor are a Red/Black/Ground wire, Pictures show where wires go to.

I thought all I had to do was remove Red/Black from Fuse Panel Circuit Board, put those into input of ems-hw30c and then go out of that back to those same Pos/Neg on Circuit board, right? can someone please help.

I installed the way I thought was correct and had no display on remote display and no power to Trailer. I reversed wires and still had no display and no power. removed ems-hw30c and had power to trailer again.

also where can I get an owners or service manual for this. checked the forest river website but could just find 2015 not 2005.

too many people smarter than me but those would dc wires. your ac wires should solid white and black. as you can see from your pic, all the ac (white and black) wires go to the breakers. The dc wires go to your fuses.

PS in ac its line and neutral not pos and neg. Lime is black and neutral is white. I wish I new why a hot ac wire is colored the same as a ground wire.

then I'm guessing the main AC wires are somewhere else? or is it normal for the DC wire to be 10ga? and the AC maybe 14ga

Holy schnikes!! Hold up bubba, you hooked up your DC to the EMS. The EMS is for AC power only! You need to know which wires are going to your 30A input to the breaker panel. The red and black are DC power going to the fuses, like your car and truck. Man I hope that DC did not scew up your new EMS.

so then where do I find the main AC input? is it the one hooked up to the 30amp fuse on top?

Also, do I need separate protection for DC?

The main 30A power should go into your breaker panel from a 30A breaker. The breaker will be supplying power directly to the metal bar that you can see behind your circuit breakers in the 2nd picture.
DC power is generated and controlled by your converter.

Most likely the orange wire is your shore power. Should go from your outside plug to the 30amp breaker on your panel. Pay attention in the instructions to which one is input (from outside) and output (to panel) and which wires go on which terminals. The terminals are labeled and there is also a ring that you slide over one of the wires at the relay inside the box.
