Extend gen/inverter run time

Just purchased a new Champion 3400 watt generator/inverter and while doing some research I stumbled across this video, the products or kits he has is for Honda, Yamaha, Champion and others. Now apparently you can purchase the kit from this gentleman...but being familiar with all the parts he is using I can pretty much buy them all for next to nothing.
Check it out you can go from a 7.5 hour run time to almost and in most cases over to a 20-24 hour run time.

Actually when I bought my new Boliy gen it came equipped to add 6 gal fuel tank to extend run time to 20 plus hrs. Matter of fact it ran 24 before I filled and still had fuel left. Later RJD

I have a champion 3100 and saw that website as well, but the $250 price tag turned me away. Could you post your parts list. Later RJD

I prefer to run my 3100 champion than my onan 5k that will run forever. just for the fact I have to refuel it .it gives me a chance to check oil and spark arrestor for carbon build up.

Yes, almost new account. Purchased new toy hauler last month 26rr and have 6 nights and 7 days in it. Found that my old Honda generator was not going to cut the mustard. After extensive research I found the above video and settled on the Champion Gen/Inv 3400 watt.
After watching the video a dozen times not including the back tracking and slow motioning the following is what I believe he used and what I plan on using.

20pcs Nylon Platic White Fuel Hose Cable Wire Clamps Clips For 11.4-12.4mm OD

Fuel Pump/ Filter For Honda 808656 2439316S 49040-7001 16700-Z0J-003

1/4" Fuel T white polyurethane fuel barb Tee motorcycle automotive gas line

HONDA male gas fuel fitting boat motor marine quick connect line threaded

Fuel Line and Primer Line T Fittings Sports Parts 07-279

Brass Hose Fitting, Connector, 5/16" Barb x 1/4" Female NPT End - FF45

Standard Motor Products V247 PCV Valve

All of the above can be purchased through “Amazon” for a hair over 50 bucks, just cut and paste each item into the search block. Yes I know plastic is spelled wrong but that is how it is on Amazon.

I have watched the video about a dozen times now pay attention to the way the PCV is set up!!! From right to left it is a;

1) Short piece of hose

2) “T” fitting

3) Short piece of hose

4) PCV

The fuel line (I’m thinking about a 5 foot piece should be more than enough) can be purchased at any auto parts store along with the Teflon tape.

I make no guaranty that these are the exact parts he uses in the video, however; my experience tells me I am almost 90 percent sure I am right and this is what I will be using.
A little about me, retired Navy 20+ years, CSX mechanical engineer 10 years, Florida State College at Jacksonville Counselor 7 years and Civil Service Hydraulic/Pneumatic engine repair presently.

Not that, take two: aceinspp posted and then another user, Later RJD, posted next. That is how you sign your posts each time. Just found it interesting. What are the odds. Have a great day.

Speaking of Cahoots...

I use to travel but I can't ever remember being in Cahoots. All I ever heard was you had to be with somebody when you go. I did once manage to see the sights in Cogito and thankfully no one recognized me. By now you probably recognize that I can be often found in Sane. If you want to join me, there's no airport so you can't fly in... you have to be driven.

Sorry couldn't help myself ;-)

Oh and just so I make some attempt to stay relevant to this thread, I created a PDF with that great info that was provided earlier. I did add a tank and a hose. PDF attached to this message

I posted that parts list for the Champion 3100 DIY kit yesterday and then today I again reviewed the video to check off everything. Sorry, but that earlier PDF does NOT have the correct parts.

Today, I am uploading two newer, more accurate PDF files attached.

File "Champion 3100 Extended Fuel DIY final.PDF" is the correct parts list. Everything sourced from Amazon.

File "Champion 3100 Extended Fuel DIY screens.PDF" has a collection of screen captures from the video showing where and how each part is used. The screens are in order from the video left to right.

TO MODERATOR: Feel free to delete that earlier message PDF and all.

I built mine for maybe about fifty bucks, the most expensive thing was the boat gas tank. A Honda will actually suck gas through the gas cap. You drill a threaded hole in the gas cap, it's like hooking up a boat motor. I used the same fittings. Worked like a charm. I used the same gas hose that came for the boat, I just put a fitting in the hose so you could hook up two Honda's

UPDATED: Champion Extended Run Kit

A couple of times previously, I posted a DIY parts list for the Champion 3100 Extended Run kit. After again reviewing the video and getting messages from others, an update to the parts list and screen shots is order.

The main 2 changes are:
1) Decided against the Koeler kit and went with a Honda OEM fuel pump and
2) Video's PCV tube shows a miniature check valve, not an automobile PCV valve.
Both new parts are sourceable at amazon. Total price is now about $74 (up from$55). Tank and Tank Hose if you need them are $87.

Attached here are the two newer, Version 2 PDF files with the parts changed.

File "Champion 3100 Extended Fuel DIY finalv2 materials.PDF" is the correct parts list. Everything sourced from Amazon.

File "Champion 3100 Extended Fuel DIY finalv2 screens.PDF" has a collection of screen captures from the video showing where and how each part is used. The screens are in order from the video left to right.

I photographed every piece and verified them against the video. I wrote out instructions and all the parts are sitting here ready to install. Just haven't gotten around to it. I still think this going to be an easy one or two hour job.
