External charger

For those of you that are utilizing an external battery charger to recharge your batteries vs. on board convertor, how are you hooking it up?

I have 2 12v 85ah DC that takes a long time to charge back up after overnight use. We are just power gobbling monsters so all of the "conservatists" cool your thumbs now. Everything is already switched over to led's and checked paracidic draws.

So...are you hooking up to one battery at + & - or are you going + on one and - on the other?

From your description you have 12V batteries in parallel. So, it makes no difference. Neg to either -Neg post and positive to either +Positive post.

I hook up to the -neg on one batt and the +pos on the other batt. need to check your charger. some are better at putting juice into a set of batteries vs others. To get significantly discharged batteries back up to charge takes a fair amount of power and/or time... I have seen various recommendations over the past few weeks on this forum.

Does anyone let the convertor continue to charge while external charger is connected?

With any battery circuit that has two or more supplies, the one that delivers the highest voltage will be supplying almost all the charging current.

If you have two "automatic" chargers (voltage sensing with multiple charging steps), they may get confused and not perform propery.

Simple bottom line is use one at a time.
