Generator distance

How close can I put this generator to the trailer without having to worry about carbon monoxide?

Point the exhaust away from the trailer, and the generator(s) oriented so the exhaust is pointing downwind. You should have a CO alarm in the camper.

Is it safe to have the generator running in these dry leaves? Should i rake the area first?

I think a little caution can go a long way in these types of situations. It wouldn't take but a moment to clear a 3 or 4 foot area behind the Genny(s). Get a broom, and shoo those leaves away. Most Gennys have special spark arresting mufflers on them. See what your owners manual says.

If its the first time running it do you think i should let it run for a while before trying to power anything? The manual didnt say anything about that but ive heard before its good to do it. Its a honda eu2200i btw.

I've seen it encouraged on here, to let them run a few minutes, before plugging them into the TT or whatever you are powering with the Genny. I see nothing wrong with that advice. I normally do the same.
They are not shipped with oil in the crankcase, so make sure you have added that since it's new. There should of been a little yellow sticker on the pull cord to let you know about it.
The little Honda's are a good choice BTW.

I run Champion gennys. Their break in is five hours of half load or less. Don't know that I've ever done it.

you should run it as far away from your unit and as close to your neighbors as you can get it . lmao

This would be “sound” advice. You won’t hear the Genny, but your neighbors will. Lol

We ran ours from the bumper. I added 2 extra carbon monoxide detectors (dedicated units).

We were in very close quarters at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and the one in the back did alarm once. But, it could have been any of 5 neighbors around me OR my generator that was the culprit.
