Generator Issue Powering Appliances Directly

Last night I tried out the new/refurbished generator with my juicer/blender combo. Plugging the J/B directly into the generator and nothing. Then I hooked up the camper to the generator and J/B worked fine when using an outlet in the camper. Should it not have worked being plugged directly into the generator? I'm glad it worked plugged into the camper as that's how it will primarily be used. I was a little confused why no power in the other case.

HTT:
Rockwood Roo 233s

Generator:
Champion 73536i 1600/2000 Watt Inverter Generator

Juicer / Blender
750 Watts (Sticker on Bottom of J/B)

Dang it. I thought of that last night as a possibility but it was starting to sleet/snow so I shut down shop. That might be a possiblity. There are two outlets on it do generators generally have an outlet you can and can not plug directly into?

no but....... theres normally a little breaker on the panel it may have been off or tripped .
so if you plugged into two different outlets one outlet must have been fine and the other was either off or tripped .

I am pretty sure that all I did was unplug the J/B and plug in the camper. I dont remember resetting any breakers either but who knows. Sounds like round two of testing tonight after I shovel the 6 inches of snow $%*#@! Iowa sounds really really good about now. Thanks man.

Started the generator up tonight. Had the J/B full and ready to go. Started up the generator. Extension cord light was lit showing power. J/B would not turn on. Switched to the 2nd outlet and negative. Next step is try plugging in other items directly. The good news is that I can run the J/B when the camper is powered thru the generator just not directly into generator. I'm just wanting ot know why I cant run it directly into it.

Doesn't make sense......
Does your gennie have idle control?
Meaning it idles till you power up something pluged into then it ramps up the rpms?

One other thing since the j/b has no ground it may not power up if it needs a ground sensing load?
Try a drill in it or something with only a two prong plug and see if that works.

Ps 30 degrees here today with a chance of flurries. Ugh

I agree with Turbs, this doesn't make sense.

Plug something else into the genny like an incandescent light or
a portable heater. I often use a heater to test my genny.
I have a couple 700/1400 watt heaters and I use one of them
to give my genny a test run B 4 I leave on a trip.

Guys...
I have included a pic of the generator. I plugged in an ungrounded drill and it works. Now what does that tell me? J/B has three prong. Drill has two prong. J/B works when camper is plugged into the generator. There will be times when we will daytrip and want the generator along and who knows what we will plug into it and it would be nice to know around these quirks ahead of time.

...at least another inch of snow overnight here. All of the wet snow sticking to the trees would make a great December 12th! Sounds like Iowa is not the place to be either. Grrr.

You should be able to plug in and run the jb. Did you check the fuses for the 110 outlets on the genny and is there a switch for those outlets?

1. I am unaware of fuses or switches for those outlets. Just the breaker on the front that is on/off. I would agree it should run the j/b. Directly plugged in It ran the drill and last night it powered the camper. After powering the camper I was able to power the j/b from inside the camper. Makes no sense as someone said. I know i am repeating myself but am hoping someone will notice the million dollar observation.

2. I thought I had econ mode off when trying to directly power the j/b. I will try again tonight just to make sure. Last night I powered the j/b from within the camper with econ mode on and off. There has to be an answer to this. Bleh.

I may have to call customer service but know lots of generator owners here with real life experience. I trust that more than the typical person on the phone.

Alas an answer.

The j/b has an induction motor which on its. Own does not draw enough juice for the gennie to determine that anything is plugged into it requiring voltage.
Unlike a brush motor ie "drill"
When plugged into camper there is enough load already that the j/b workes.
Converter would be one source.

Oh great....the guru. Uggh. If this is a matter of simple operator error this will not look good on my permanent record. I will recheck everything tonight.

Hey! Its not operator error.Thank God! Unsure of what that brush motor talk is all about but I am buying in all the way even though it sounds like Star Trek lingo.

Does that mean I will never be able to power the j/b off the genny directly?

Payment... Hmmm. I am going to regift this 6 inches of snow a buddy gave me yesterday and send it your way! I have heard how much you like to snowmobile. Thanks Turbs.

He said u may be able to do 2 things.
An ext cord believe it or not between gennie and blender might do it.
Or simply have a radio or such plugged into outlet may be enough.

I'll except an extremely potent drink from said blender sometime!
