Generator noise difference between parallel vs. single

I've read and heard quite a bit about how quiet the inverter generators are but haven't seen any data on when they are paralleled. To match my older Mitsubishi MGE-4000 output I would need to parallel 2-2000 Honda's or equivalent. It has a noise rating of 68 dba which is loud by today's standards, but when I got it in 1999 it was one of the quietest available. I've seen the numbers on the new inverters but I've never seen anybody give a rating when running in parallel with a second unit. I know the two would have to be louder than one but how much quieter would they be together than my Mitsubishi.

My guess is a lot quieter. Why not get a single 3000 or bigger and be done with it?

That is an option I believe the 3000eiu is rated at 58 but then I am back to a similar weight as my Mitsubishi with less performance

We run the 2 - Honda 2000's with a home made aux tank. Biggest reason, easy to carry and store in our trailer. I don't know the noise rating of them combined, but they are still one of the quietest on the market. I'd say they are just as quiet as a single.

I don't know exactly, but two 2000s in parallel are about the same to slightly less than my EX4500 which is rated at 61db. Biggest secret is directing the exhaust away from you or other sites.
