Generator Question

Hey guys, I need to get a generator for those times I can't plug in. I'm in an XLR 29hfs - A/C, fridge, microwave, tv, lights etc. I'm really ignorant when it comes to most of this stuff, not sure how much power I need or the best way to obtain it. I could get something like a Honda eu3000 or a couple of 2000s, or one of each? Any suggestions/tips you have are appreciated. Thanks.

My suggestion is to get two 2000w inverter generators that you can parallel.
That way, if you won't need the a/c, you can run everything else with one. And they only weigh around 50lbs each.

Honda and Yamaha are the gold standard. But there are numerous other brands that are cheaper, yet are dependable, Champion being the best of this group.

How much do you need?

Appliance or Electronic Equipment Estimated Amps
Air Conditioner (X number of A/C) 12-16 Amps
Blender 5-6 Amps
Coffee Maker 5-8 Amps
Compact Disc Player 1 Amp
Computer (Laptop) 2-3 Amps
Converter 1-8 Amps
Crock Pot 1-2 Amps
Curling Iron <1 Amp
Drill 2-6 Amps
Electric Blanket 0.5-1.5 Amps
Electric Fan 1 Amp
Electric Water Heater 9-13 Amps
Electric Skillet 6-12 Amps
Hair Dryer 5-12 Amps
Iron 5-10 Amps
Light (60 watt % 120V) <1 Amp
Microwave 8-13 Amps
Microwave (Convection Oven) 13 Amps
Refrigerator in AC mode 5-8 Amps
Space Heater 8-13 Amps
Television 1.5-4 Amps
Toaster 7-10 Amps
Vacuum (handheld) 2-6 Amps
VCR 1-2 Amps
Washer/Dryer 14-16Amps

Watts=voltage x amps.

If you have a 50 amp service you are spoiled. That is actually 100 amps service. You can run everything at the same time.

The 2000 watt generators are handy but, not real powerful. No ac unless you have two.

30 amps is 3,300 watts. 50 amps is actually 11,000 watts.

if you do a search on this forum there will be hours of reading on generators and what you need to know, just in the past 2-3 months... always new info on this topic as brands and models emerge...

A reliable affordable Champion 3400 generator with remote controls start/shutdown will provide you with sufficient power, 3100 watts continuous, to power one air conditioner and smaller items. If you want more power, you can parallel both together for 6,200 watts.
