Generator question

I have a 2014 Sunseeker 3010DS. After removing the 2 deep cell batteries for winter storage, I started the vehicle engine and then the generator. After running for several minutes, I shut off the engine so I could remove the vehicle battery. As soon as the vehicle battery was disconnected, the generator stopped. There is plenty of gas. Does the generator need a battery connected to keep running, or is this a problem?

Yes needs battery, some built in generators do not have a battery charger and need the 12 volt battery to operate the circuit boards in the generator. That is the way ours is.

Its fuel pump operates from avail power supply, otherwise it will stop.

Love and marriage. Generator and battery, you can't have one without the other.
