Generator questions

Chassis battery is dead and won’t take a charge. Replacing it this morning. If I am following this situation...if the chassis battery is dead the generator won’t start ...so that it could recharge the battery. Am I missing something here?

Isn't there a way to manually start the generator?

If not, I would bet the new battery would have enough voltage to start it.

I don’t think there is any way to start the generator without the chassis battery,

Without knowing what you have there it's difficult to say. Sorry I'm not much help.

I'm willing to bet your new battery would have enough of a charge to start it.

If the MH has a BOOST switch/button that connects house batteries to chassis battery for engine start, pressing that at the same time trying to start generator might get it going. It's essentially just a hard wired "jumper cable" system.

My generator starts from the house batterys. Chassis battery is for the engine. Emergency switch connects house batterys to chassis battery to start the engine. Some charge from the alternator goes to the house batterys and some charge from the converter goes to the chassis battery. Yours is subject to change.

X2 And as mentioned, your MH electrical system setup may be different.

Battery

It’s a 2019 2850 LE with 2000 miles. There is a boost switch on the drivers seat...didn’t know it was there. The generator started from the battery...the charger was still on.

Do you mean, the "boost" switch did the trick or do you think it started because you had a battery charger attached to the battery?

Inquiring minds need to know.
