have you actually listened to a open frame generator, like your 3500, next to a real inverter generator? i have and it'll drown the inverter one out.

i have and there's a BIG difference in noise level. the 3500 is rated at 65db, while a typical good inverter generator is 53db to 55db, because it can run at a quieter level when doing things like recharging the battery. your generator runs at full noise level, no matter what the demand level is.

a 10db difference is HUGE on a logarithmic scale.

I use a Boliy 3600SI weight 75# cost less than two Hondas ,battery start, 4 DB higher than a Honda and has an external tank for up to 24 hrs run time. Runs my 15000 AC. Later RJD

YES HAVE OWNED BOTH . i know the noise difference . not so bad !!
i can run my 3500 on the back side of my unit and barely hear it while laying down . at about 35 yards with a little breeze blowing you can't hear it at all .

Have you heard the new champion 3500???? they have upgraded the muffler, the noise on the engine and gen is more then the exhaust noise .
it's not bad at all
no it's not as quite as a honda inverter . when ever i camp without electric hook ups it's running . even quieter when it's in the back of my truck with just the glass on the shell open .

lets see 2 honda 2000 about $2400 . champion 399 . noise not at all as bad as most make it out

we'll see how long the Champion lives.....35 yards away, you'd be in your neighbors site out here......paid $985 each for mine......no worries, no problems. Buy what turns your crank.

champions have great reviews and I personally know people you have used them for yrs with out trouble . so i'll be running it for awhile .
i don't put the unit 35 yards away just right out side where all can hear it just like all those hondas and onans running consistently . At least i have manners and shut mine down come evening unlike most honda owners who think their units don't bother people
Nice units and beats $1970. any day

I knew that......and, as a Honda user, I have an inverter to use also.

I knew a guy who bought a Cabela's gen for 329.00 it's a 4785/3800 pull start. And he says it runs 1 13500 a/c and the fan on the 12000 a/c with everything else on except microwave which he says he doesn't use much anyway. But he said someone complained about the noise so he went to home depot and bought stuff to make him a portable sound room (basically it's canvas walls open at top and about 6 inch off bottom for air. After that he said no one complained.

Think that 3500 watts was surge watts to start the AC. Costco has a 2000 watt gennie that uses the Yamaha motor which is so well liked. Smarter tools makes it. Under 600 bucks. You can buy the piece that will link the two to run your AC. And yes it is quiet
