generator with floating neutral

I need some one very versed in a L14-30 30 AMP generator outlet with floating neutral.

Sounds like you are trying to run an unbalanced load. Try putting a small ground rod by the generator (a 3' X 5/8" rod should be enough) and run a #8 wire to the generator frame from the ground rod. If that doesn't fix it, you may want to hire a qualified electrician to open the generator panel to make sure that the neutral is bonded to the ground.

With the floating neutral the L14-30 receptical 120/240 only puts out half of rated load on 120. I can't get enough amps.
Stupid design.
