I'm happy with the Westinghouse 2400i. It's the same size as the rest of the suitcase generators but 400 more watts and easily run my ac in econo mode. $619.

Well ya might have stated that in first place about elevation. Not all fact then you get the comments. Later RJD

Well i ordered a champ 3100 electric start [i hope i did the right thing] o well it is a done deal . my next question is a technical one. can in an emergency situation two inverter generators that are not of the same power out put or brand be put in parallel with a DIY parallel harness for 30 amps that plugs into the Edison 115/15/20 amp connectors of each gen set[i know ] with a 30 amp tt-30R. will the gen set sinc together? do not forget we are talking about EMERGENCY SHTF type of situation

Use a Yamaha 2000. Could get away with a 1000 but the price was $100 difference with rebates at the time of purchase. Didn't want to go to the 2400 or larger

Never use the AC. Removed the microwave. Have 300 watts of solar and two 6 volt 220's so can go multiple days even without sun. Gen only gets run after 3 days of rain. Like to keep it portable and quiet. If it never comes out of the back of the truck all the better.

I'll give a +1 to the Champion 3100. Not that Hondas or Yamahas are bad, but just not worth the extra bucks. 10 years ago, they were, but not today.

Can't answer your question about paralleling 2 different units together, but what would you be trying to run in that scenario?

Getting rid of that microwave is not a bad idea. That is some valuable storage space that I rarely use.

I am not sure of your trailer set up but I am ordering a matching cupboard door and hardware to cover the opening. I have already boxed in the opening with matching oak paneling.

So true!

I learned a long time ago people love to share with you what they know but I can't understand why when they don't want to share that they just don't ignore the post instead of being snarky.

This is a really good and friendly forum and I hope we can keep it that way..

The Honda is probably the best and the Yamaha is also right up there. You probably won't go wrong with either but make sure you use non-ethanol fuel...

I'm going to take a look at doing that. That's a lot of valuable space for something we rarely use I think I'm set up the same as your TT with the exception of the slide. Have you located a door?

Been on the road for two weeks traveling. Haven't had a chance to call the dealer. Doing mods as we go and find better solutions for our needs. Once we are back I will do a post on the little changes we have made with photos.

WHY?....because I bought it "rode hard and put away wet" for $300. A spark plug, oil change, and little filter cleaning and it runs like new. An added benefit is that it is UGLY!!....hopefully making it a little less of a target for thieves.

I couldn't get along without a microwave, and DW could not get along without TV. That's the first thing I plan to install now that I'm back off this last trip. A Direct satellite dish on to of the camper, one where you push a button and it finds the signal. Next year I plan to install solar and a bank of six volt batteries.
