Genesis Media payer trips GFI

In my 2012 Flagstaff 23lb I can't turn on the breaker for the multimedia system if plugged into a gfi pedestal. It trips the gfi instantly. If I leave the breaker off it will run off the 12 volt no problem. Also non gfi plugs work as well.

Any ideas where I should start?

My understanding is you cannot have two gfi plugs on the same circuit, one will trip the other. You may have to get that circuit changed to a non gfi plug.

I am confused as the Genesis Radio is 12V DC and should be connected to a fuse at the converter.

What breaker are you talking about?

The bottom one on my panel. It's labelled "radio". Maybe it's not the radio?

Sorry my mistake. I misread the fuse panel. It is water heater that is tripping GFI pedestal!

This is essentially your problem. My mother-in-law watches those HGTV "flip this house" types of shows. I happened to remember one episode where they were having issues with a hot tub that wouldn't work. Turns out - it was a GFCI outlet that was wired into another GFCI outlet and they'd trip each other. That little nugget stuck with me, but never meant anything.

Fast forward to reading threads here - and I've read the same thing.

It doesn't necessarily *always* trip the GFCI, it can be inconsistent.

Your only option for it to consistently work is to not plug into a GFCI outlet.
