GFCI Won’t Reset

Pulled into a rest area with our 2017 Sunseeker. Turned the generator on to run the microwave. Discovered No power to the microwave or any other outlets. Tried to reset the GFCI in the bathroom, but the reset button seems stuck. Checked the circuit breakers and fuses, but nothing happened. Anyone experience this? Do we need to install a new GFCI? If so, any recommendations?

Check the generator. you need to have power to rest the gfi.

Sometimes the circuit breaker on the gen. trips. Usually if trying to start under a load. Doesn't have to be a high load.

generator breakers are probably tripped, even if they don't look like it.... reset them and you'll have power

Thanks for all of your advice. We tried flipping the breaker on the generator several times but it doesn’t appear to be sending power to the GFI. We plugged into shore power and everything worked fine. So there appears to be an issue with the generator.

Do you need to plug in the coach into a generator or do you have an automatic transfer switch that is not working?

We have an automatic transfer switch. Maybe the switch is the issue. Thanks.

My vote is either transfer switch open (fault) or wired wrong. Sometimes the contacts have dirt or debris in it. When you have no power to a GFCI master you can not test nor reset. Same at home. Even if all the outlets are on one 15 amp breaker, like mine was, the microwave has its own. Same for converter, fridge, WH and AC unit(s). The transfer switch in its resting or non operated state, cuts thru from shore power, when the genny supplies power it operates and the power it puts out, energizes the transfer switch, send genny power to the panel. So, it still could be the generator, that isn't ruled out. I would be testing with a VOM, but if you are not comfortable doing that, don't. 120vac can hurt like hell the whole time you are dying. So, I'm told.

Mine looks like this, but XLR used the cheap version without a terminal, I added a terminal.

Thanks. We'll have to investigate a problem with the transfer switch. I don't think it's wired wrong as it previously worked.
