Not just yours. Mine was the same mess even though just a "bumper pull".
I spend a total of several days just re-wiring battery system all the way to the converter. Upsized main wire and seriously cleaned up the "spaghetti" by installing a couple of bus bars and an enclosure designed specifically for the unbilical cord feeding tail/brake/running lights as well as +12V and Ground.
Also changed batteries to Battleborn LiFePo and added a DC-DC charger so my Tow Vehicle actually charges the trailer batteries at a decent rate (even though the voltage at the LiFePo batteries is much higher than FLA's.
I installed a separate battery shut-off switch where the batteries are now mounted, inside. Left the OE battery switch in place although now it only supplies power to jack and I can keep "busy little fingers" from messing with my tongue jack by switching power off at old battery shut-off.
When not in use I shut off Propane so I don't worry about the alarm being "dead" during storage.
