Help! Trouble with shortstop fuse
I have a 2016 vengeance 398v I am having a little issue with. At some point over the winter someone pulled my breakaway cable. Well when I hooked the batteries back up it melted, I guess this isn't uncommon. Anyway shortly after this I realized nothing inside the coach would run off the batteries and I traced to to a 30 amp short stop self resetting breaker. Well over the course of a couple days with nothing on in the coach it never reset. No worries it's under warranty and the dealer was picking it up to fix the breakaway anyway. So I get a call from them saying house power works fine can't find a problem, interesting. They dropped it back off and I went out and checked it out and sure enough everything was fine. Today I went out to see how strong the batteries are, I turned on a few lights and hit the test panel...and then turned on a few more lights and it all went dead. After an hour or so it was back on, I did it again just to see and everything went out again but this time reset in 30 seconds. I could duplicate this time and time again. It's not like I had every light in the coach on, a couple double incandescent, and the rest were led rope lights either accent or awning light or whatever. Shouldn't it be able to power all that with no problem? What if the furnace was on? Each time it reset quickly and everything would stay on for a couple minutes then trip again. It's one single 30 amp short stop that's tripping. So two questions, do these go bad without going completely bad? Like perhaps it was damaged and it tripping below what it should? And two doesn't 30 amp seem small? This is a 43 foot toy hauler with a 50 amp service....I never had any problems the first few months I used it last season, this just started this year after the breakaway issue. Surely I can run more than that at once especially with most of it being led!
