Honda eu2000i hard start when cold

When the weather is cold, approaching freezing and just below, my generator is hard to start. Well really it starts quickly but shuts down after a few seconds for a low oil warning. The oil is not low. Sometimes I have to start it 3 times before it will stay going. Is this normal?

They come stock with a 10w-30 oil in them. In near freezing to freezing temps you may want to use a 5w-30. Its shutting down on you cuz the oil is too thick to get everything lubed up and thinks its low on oil. 3 times started to run = warmed up enough to flow a little more.

I had the same problem. I would just restarting the generator 2 or 3 time, then it would stay running. A bit of a pain, but was wort it.
